Most calls come from people whose original access is buried, so every pump-out or inspection starts with a shovel. If your tank sits under lawn or driveway, a riser means the next service visit doesn't need a dig.
When access becomes an issue
On a buried tank, the pump truck operator has to find the lid and dig it out before any work starts. That costs time on every visit and tears up the yard each time. A riser puts a lid at the surface, so you can find it, open it and close it again without excavating.

How we measure for height
The number of riser sections depends on how far the tank opening sits below grade, so we measure that first. We add sections until the stack reaches the height the site needs. South of Lake Minnequa the water table can be only a few feet below the surface, so we dig only as deep as that measurement requires.

The installation sequence we follow
We set the first riser section on the tank opening and use sealant tape where the sections join. We repeat the section installation as many times as the height calls for. Then we snap the lid onto the stack and secure it with stainless steel screws. Once the lid is secured, we backfill the excavated hole.
Wet ground and floodplain properties
Some Pueblo ground stays wet. A City document points to seepage from Lake Minnequa and nearby reservoirs, and the floodplain areas run along the Arkansas River, Fountain Creek and East Dry Creek. Before we plan the excavation or bring in equipment, we check where your property falls, because that affects how we reach the tank and how long the hole stays open. Storm exposure here is low, so weather rarely changes our schedule.
What the Work Involves
For work like this, the work covers:
- Set the adapter ring over the anchors, fit a washer and nut on each anchor, and tighten until snug with a 7/16-inch wrench.
- Apply sealant rope at the bottom connection of each riser section, then snap the section into place and fasten it to the adapter with stainless steel screws.
